Critical assessment of combat readiness

The Armed Forces of the Czech Republic are in a state that does not meet the requirements of a large-scale conflict. This conclusion is contained in the updated concept for the development of the army for the period until 2040, which was approved by the country's government. Czech Television reported this.

Systemic problems in the defence sector

According to data from the new document, Czechia is failing to meet approximately 70% of its obligations to the North Atlantic Alliance. A severe shortage of personnel is cited among the key obstacles. This situation significantly limits the military command's ability to effectively carry out assigned tasks.

Modernisation plans

The approved strategy is intended to serve as a roadmap for rectifying the situation. It defines the directions for modernising the armed forces, as well as measures to eliminate the identified deficits in the coming years.
