Strengthening the residence's air defence

A new element of the security system — the LOCUST anti-drone laser unit — has been identified at the Mar-a-Lago estate, located in Florida and owned by US President Donald Trump. This is reported by The War Zone.

Equipment operating mechanism

The system is designed to detect and destroy unmanned aerial vehicles. It operates using directed energy radiation. The installation of this equipment is intended to strengthen the residence's protection against potential aerial threats.

Existing security measures

This is not the only defence system deployed near the estate. Avenger surface-to-air missile systems were previously installed at the same location. Their purpose is to engage aerial targets operating at low altitudes.
