Change in the role of presidential spokesperson

The administration of US President Donald Trump has selected Katie Zaharia for the position of White House press secretary. This was reported by the New York Post.

Previous experience at the US DHS

Before her appointment to the presidential administration, Zaharia worked as a spokesperson for the US Department of Homeland Security. Her tenure in this position lasted approximately three months in early 2026.

She left the department after Markwayne Mullin took over as Secretary of Homeland Security in March.

Political career and education

According to the New York Post, Zaharia has significant experience working within the structure of the Republican Party. While studying at Pepperdine University, she interned at the National Republican Party Committee.

She also worked in the White House Office of Political Affairs during the second presidential term of George W. Bush.

Current activities

Currently, Katie Zaharia works at the organisation Fix California. This structure was founded by US Presidential Special Envoy Rick Grenell. The organisation promotes a conservative political agenda in California.
