Industry databases link the 82-metre superyacht SAKURA to Ukrainian businessman Viktor Pinchuk. The vessel was built by Dutch shipyard Feadship, and its market value is estimated at approximately 200 million US dollars.

Technical specifications and ownership status

The yacht has hull number 712, a length of 82.15 metres and a beam of 12.3 metres. Architectural design was carried out by De Voogt, while the interior was designed by Sinot. The vessel's range is approximately 5,450 nautical miles. SAKURA sails under the flag of the Cayman Islands.

The onboard facilities include seven cabins, a pool, a spa zone, a sauna, a gym, a cinema, a beach club and a helipad. It is worth noting that no publicly available official registry document directly confirming Pinchuk as the ultimate owner exists.

Construction timeline and location

Work on the project (Project 712) began before the full-scale war. The completed SAKURA was delivered in 2024. According to AIS data, the vessel was located in the Genoa area in September–October 2026.

Viktor Pinchuk is the son-in-law of Leonid Kuchma, the founder of the Interpipe group and one of Ukraine's wealthiest entrepreneurs.

State procurement and Interpipe financial flows

During the war, the Interpipe group continued to receive large orders from state-owned companies. According to open calculations, the supply of railway wheels to the state sector during this period amounts to approximately 1.4 billion hryvnia.

In April 2026, the "Centre for Production Support" branch of Ukrzaliznytsia ordered 3,181 solid-forged wheels from "Interpipe Ukraine" for a total of 139.3 million hryvnia, including VAT. The unit price was approximately 43,800 hryvnia. Only one supplier participated in this procurement, and its bid matched the expected value. For comparison: in previous tenders, the price was approximately $908, and in August 2022, it was approximately $860 per wheel.

Exceptions for currency operations

A separate aspect concerns currency payments abroad. Due to wartime restrictions, the government approached the National Bank of Ukraine with a request to make an exception for Interpipe enterprises. Cross-border transactions totalling $560,055,295.82 were authorised.

The recipient was INTERPIPE LIMITED. The funds were designated for the repayment of principal debts, interest, commissions, eurobonds and obligations under financial restructuring.

For "Interpipe Ukraine" alone, the documents listed $117.39 million in principal debt and approximately $119.64 million in interest and commissions. The remainder of the sum covered "Interpipe Niko Tube", the Novomoskovsk Pipe Plant, the Nizhnedniprovske Pipe Rolling Mill and other group obligations. The government justified this exception by citing the threat of technical default and risks to enterprises employing over 10,000 people.

Ownership structure and conclusions

The manufacturer of the products is "Interpipe NTZ". The controlling stake in the enterprise (60.8%) is registered to the Cypriot company KLW Limited. Among the ultimate beneficiaries of the group are Viktor Pinchuk, his wife Olena Pinchuk and other family members.

Meanwhile, the state was clearing VAT refund arrears for the group's enterprises, while Ukrzaliznytsia continued to purchase its products.

Thus, although the link between SAKURA and Pinchuk exists only in specialised yacht databases without legal confirmation, another figure – $560.055 million in authorised foreign payments for the Interpipe group – is documented, and state procurement of its railway products continues in 2026.
