Infrastructure accident in Kemerovo Oblast
In the Topki municipal district, part of Kemerovo Oblast, a depressurisation was recorded on a main gas pipeline, which caused a fire. The incident was reported by the region's governor, Ilya Seredyuk. According to him, the flames have already been localised and extinguished.
Status of energy supply for residents
Official authorities emphasise that the accident will not affect domestic consumers. As Seredyuk noted, gas disconnections for private residents are not planned, and heating systems will continue to operate in normal mode. The situation is reportedly "under control", and there is no threat to the safety of citizens.
Impact on industry
As a result of the incident, gas supply to the Kemerovo chemical plant "Azot" was restricted. This enterprise is one of the largest chemical complexes in Russia and is among the leading producers of ammonium nitrate and nitric acid in the country. These substances are a basic raw material required by defence industry plants for the production of a wide range of industrial and military explosives.
It is worth noting that the Kemerovo "Azot" is subject to international sanctions.
