Circumstances of arrival on the peninsula

Ukrainian citizen Oleksandra died tragically in occupied Sevastopol. The woman arrived on the Crimean peninsula amid the full-scale war to help her parents, who had chosen the region to live in after retiring, and to dispose of their apartment. After completing these matters, the family planned to move permanently to Turkey.

Detention and conditions of detention

Oleksandra’s return to her homeland was scheduled to take place within a month. However, she was detained, with her correspondence cited as the reason. For three months, the woman was held in a solitary confinement cell. Subsequently, the occupiers reported her death, labelling it “suicide”.

Reaction and personal life

The tragic events became known through a notice published at the school where Oleksandra was a co-founder. She is survived by her husband, Oleksiy, and daughter, Alisa.
