Italian driver sets historic record

Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who drives for the Mercedes team, has entered motorsport history by becoming the youngest winner of the Formula 1 World Championship. At the end of the season, he was 20 years and 68 days old.

With this achievement, Antonelli updated the previous record held by Sebastian Vettel. The German driver won the title in 2010 at the age of 23.

First Italian victory in over seven decades

In addition to the age record, Antonelli achieved another significant result. He became the first representative of Italy to win the world championship title since Alberto Ascari's victory in 1953. Thus, the gap between Italian champions was 73 years.

The season results indicate the driver's high performance: he has nine Grand Prix stage wins to his name.
