Criminal case opened over events in the Kyiv region
The State Bureau of Investigation has initiated a criminal case in connection with an incident that occurred on 2 November in the village of Petropavlivska Borshchahivka in the Kyiv region. The main focus of the investigation will be to establish facts of possible abuse of official authority by military officials during a conflict with civilian citizens.
Circumstances of the clash near a private house
Preliminary data indicates that tension arose around a private residence that was being used for the temporary accommodation of National Guard servicemen. These individuals had been returned to service after unauthorised absence from their military unit (UAW). The situation escalated after publications appeared on social media alleging the illegal detention of military personnel in this facility. Residents gathered at the scene, leading to a mass assembly of people.
Consequences of the clash and law enforcement actions
The dispute escalated into a physical confrontation, during which shots were fired. Police service vehicles were damaged. SBI investigators are now required to establish the legal basis for the military personnel's presence in the private house, verify information about the possible use of force against them, and thoroughly clarify the circumstances of the conflict and the actions of all participants in the incident.
Representatives of the prosecutor's office, the National Police, and the Office of the Military Ombudsman have been involved in the investigation. The case was opened under Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for liability for the abuse of authority or official powers by a military official.
