Warning on hybrid threats ahead of winter holidays
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk expressed concern over the possible intensification of Russian hybrid attacks by 24 December. He voiced this position following the conclusion of the European Council summit in Brussels. According to the head of the Polish government, Moscow may step up sabotage activities during the pre-holiday period.
Critical zones and infrastructure under threat
Tusk emphasised that border regions and railway routes pose the greatest danger. Particular attention should be paid to logistics chains supplying gas, oil, and food to Ukraine. In the Prime Minister's view, these facilities may become targets for new provocations.
Threat extends to the Baltic region
In addition to Poland, the warning applies to other states as well. Tusk warned of a potential increase in sabotage and provocations in the Baltic states. European intelligence services also warn of threats to NATO security, including sabotage, cyberattacks, unmanned aerial vehicle activity, and possible limited military operations.
History of incidents in Poland
In recent years, incidents have been recorded in Poland that are likely linked to Russian activity. These include the appearance of drones, cases of arson, and sabotage of railway infrastructure. Currently, the Polish side is preparing for possible new attempts to destabilise the situation.
