New financial support package

The Swedish side has approved providing Ukraine with funds amounting to 500 million Swedish kronor, equivalent to nearly 45 million euros. This is a new support package that includes assistance for Ukraine's energy infrastructure ahead of winter.

Focus on energy security

Sweden's Minister for European Union Affairs, Jessica Rosenkranz, provided details on the new aid package, publishing information on her social media account on X. According to her, the decision to allocate the funds was made against the backdrop of Russian attacks on Ukraine's civilian energy infrastructure.

Swedish government's position

«Україна бореться не лише за власну свободу, а й за безпеку всієї Європи. Коли Росія жорстоко атакує цивільну енергетичну інфраструктуру напередодні чергової військової зими, ми реагуємо, надаючи допомогу на відновлення та медичне обслуговування» ("Ukraine is fighting not only for its own freedom, but also for the security of all of Europe. When Russia brutally attacks civilian energy infrastructure ahead of another military winter, we respond by providing assistance for restoration and medical care"), Rosenkranz emphasised.

Thus, part of the allocated resources will be directed specifically towards the restoration of damaged energy facilities and ensuring medical support for citizens before the onset of the winter season.
