Transfer to an assault unit
Former head of the police in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Serhiy Bezpalko, and his deputy, Volodymyr Yatsiuk, are currently serving in the United Assault Brigade of the National Police of Ukraine, "Lyut". This information became known from an official response to an information request provided by Vyacheslav Horoshok, the acting head of the Department of Personnel Support of the National Police of Ukraine.
According to the documents, by an order dated 28 July 2026, Serhiy Bezpalko was transferred to the Department of Special Purpose Police, where the "Lyut" brigade is located. His deputy, Volodymyr Yatsiuk, was appointed to a position in the same unit by an order dated 30 July. As of 13 October, both officials continued to hold their positions in the brigade.
Vyacheslav Horoshok clarified that Bezpalko and Yatsiuk do not receive salaries or other payments from the central governing body of the National Police. However, they receive financial support directly from the "Lyut" brigade.
Details of the criminal proceedings
On 20 May 2026, law enforcement officers detained then-head of the police in Prykarpattia, Serhiy Bezpalko, and his deputy, Volodymyr Yatsiuk. According to the investigation, the leadership of territorial police units in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, and Zhytomyr oblasts may have ensured the unimpeded operation of a network of so-called porn offices.
The officials were notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They are charged with receiving undue benefit by facilitating the activities of models on internet platforms with explicit content. According to the investigation, one of the premises where video content of an erotic and pornographic nature was illegally created, produced, and distributed via the internet was located in Ivano-Frankivsk.
On 21 May, the court selected a preventive measure in the form of detention for Serhiy Bezpalko, Volodymyr Yatsiuk, and three other defendants in the case. The very next day, on 22 May, Bezpalko was released on bail in the amount of 7 million hryvnia, and Yatsiuk on bail in the amount of 5 million hryvnia. Both officials were also suspended from their posts.
The suspicions raised do not imply proof of guilt: the final decision in the case must be made by the court.
