Two Russian drones enter Romanian airspace

Two Russian jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicles have just been detected in Romanian airspace. According to available information, they are moving in the direction of Sulina — Sfântu Gheorghe.

The situation is developing in close proximity to the Ukrainian-Romanian border. It is currently unknown whether this constitutes a transit flight of the drones or if their route is linked to a potential attack.

One possibility is that they will continue moving towards the Black Sea. Another scenario could be related to attacks on civilian vessels in the area of the Bulgarian coast, where drones have recently attacked ships. In that incident, one vessel sank while another sustained damage. Bulgarian authorities reported rescuing crew members and stated that a search and rescue operation was ongoing.

Romania scrambles fighter jet

A fighter jet from the Romanian Air Force has already been scrambled to intercept the aerial targets.

It is not yet clear what specific mission has been assigned to the crew: to escort the drones, monitor their route, or attempt to destroy them. However, judging by events over the past few months, it is unlikely that Romania would take such a step.
