Condition for voting

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky formulated a specific requirement, the fulfilment of which would make it possible to hold elections for a new head of state. According to him, Ukraine is ready to organise presidential voting if Vladimir Putin agrees to the establishment of a 60-day regime of silence.

“Якщо Путін погодиться на 60-денне перемир’я, Україна проведе вибори” (If Putin agrees to a 60-day ceasefire, Ukraine will hold elections), Zelensky emphasised.

Reaction to US initiative

This position by the head of the Ukrainian state came after US President Donald Trump publicly called on the Ukrainian people to elect a new leader.
