Flight warnings

Yemeni Houthis officially warned airlines, airport staff and travellers, urging them to avoid using Saudi Arabia's airports.

This decision was made against the backdrop of a recent attack on Riyadh International Airport. The incident resulted in 12 deaths and over 300 injuries.

Greatest threat in a decade

The attack was the deadliest incident of its kind in the Kingdom in over 10 years. It occurred amid an escalation of the conflict between Iran-backed Houthis and Yemeni government forces supported by Saudi Arabia.

Social media statement

In a post on the X platform, the Houthis emphasised:

«Ми повторно застерігаємо всі авіакомпанії, експертів, персонал, працівників і мандрівників від використання аеропортів та повітряного простору Саудівської Аравії, оскільки вони вразливі до атак і стали театром бойових дій для наших сил (за винятком аеропортів у священних містах Мекка та Медина)» (We reiterate our warning to all airlines, experts, staff, workers and travellers to avoid using Saudi Arabia's airports and airspace, as they are vulnerable to attacks and have become a theatre of operations for our forces (excluding airports in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina)).

Representatives of the movement stressed the need to take these warnings seriously. They also stated that Saudi Arabia bears responsibility for "any failed interception incidents".
