President of the United States of America Donald Trump has once again drawn attention to the impact of Ukrainian military operations on the state of the global energy market. In comments regarding the rise in fuel costs within the US, he emphasised that damage to Russian oil refineries has caused a diesel fuel deficit in the Russian Federation.
The American leader claims that “Russia is losing many oil refineries because of Ukraine” (Росія втрачає багато нафтопереробних заводів через Україну). According to him, these losses affect the availability of diesel fuel. This is not the first time Trump has touched on this topic: previously, he had already called on Kyiv to stop strikes on Russian oil processing enterprises, arguing that such actions affect global diesel fuel prices.
In addition to the Russian direction, Trump drew attention to the state of the American oil refining industry. He noted that some plants in the US are ceasing operations, specifically mentioning enterprises in California, linking their closure to the rise in fuel prices in the country.
Meanwhile, the increase in fuel costs is attributed not only to strikes on Russian energy infrastructure. Among other reasons cited are general disruptions in the global market, including the consequences of the war with Iran and problems with petroleum product supplies.
