Sybiha: Russia responds only to force, while indecision prolongs the war

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha emphasised that effective pressure on Russia is possible exclusively through real steps. In a post on social media platform X, he noted that delays in making decisions give the aggressor a reason not to take calls for peace seriously and to continue hostilities.

Criterion of effectiveness: Moscow's reaction

Commenting on decisions made in the US, the head of the diplomatic department proposed assessing their value through the prism of the possible response from the Russian side. According to his logic, if such measures cause satisfaction in Moscow, this seriously casts doubt on their ability to contribute to the end of the conflict.

Sybiha stressed that Russia responds to force and specific instruments of influence. He considers the presence of such measures a necessary prerequisite for substantive negotiations with the Kremlin.

Threats without consequences do not work

The minister is convinced that threats not followed by real decisions have no proper impact on the situation. Similarly, he assesses calls for peace if they are accompanied by general indecision.

In his statement, Sybiha also mentioned US Senator Lindsey Graham. According to the Ukrainian diplomat's assessment, the politician understood that insufficient decisiveness from partners sends a false signal to the aggressor and prolongs the war.

According to Sybiha, pressure on Russia must be based on strength and concrete actions.
