Russian ruler's special representative Kirill Dmitriev commented on the decision by US President Donald Trump regarding the partial lifting of restrictions. In a public post on social media platform X, he called this move a "historic moment".
According to Dmitriev, the full application of the provisions of the "Graham Law" could have led to the de facto cessation of economic interaction between Russia and the US. He emphasised that such restrictions would have caused significant harm, primarily to the American economy, as well as to global markets.
«Призупинення дії деяких положень "закону Грема" є важливим і справді історичним моментом… Економічна співпраця між Росією та Сполученими Штатами відповідає інтересам обох країн, сприяє глобальній економічній стабільності та закладає основу для зміцнення довіри й досягнення тривалого миру» (The suspension of certain provisions of the "Graham Law" is a significant and truly historic moment... Economic cooperation between Russia and the United States serves the interests of both countries, contributes to global economic stability, and lays the foundation for strengthening trust and achieving lasting peace), wrote the Kremlin representative.
Dmitriev also stated that Russia and the US need not sanctions and confrontation, but dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation.
«Замість санкцій і конфронтації нам потрібні діалог, взаємовигідна співпраця та спільна відповідальність за глобальну стабільність» (Instead of sanctions and confrontation, we need dialogue, mutually beneficial cooperation, and shared responsibility for global stability), he noted.
As is known, Donald Trump previously signed an executive order suspending the law on sanctions against Russia and Iran. This document provided for the possibility of imposing tariffs of up to 100% on countries purchasing Russian energy resources.
