Russia's alert system suffered a cyberattack, which occurred against the backdrop of a previous hack of a Ukrainian application for air raid alerts. The Russian Federation's Ministry of Emergency Situations reported this, officially confirming the fact of interference with its services.

Incident details

As a result of the attack, users of Russian services received a notification sent in the name of the Russian EMERCOM. The message referred to the existence of a "threat of movement" and the launch of nuclear warheads on P1-SUN carriers.

Reaction and security measures

In Russia, plans are being made to move data centres underground. According to Vedomosti, the operator Rostelecom will be responsible for this.

It was previously known that following Russian strikes on data centres in Ukraine, Kyiv responded by targeting Yandex data centres.
