Statistics of cuts in the industrial sector

Germany is losing jobs in industry. Over the past 12 months, 174,000 positions have been eliminated, averaging 15,000 employees per month. These figures are confirmed by official data from the Federal Employment Agency.

Saxony Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer reported on these figures.

The problem of lack of investment

Economist Enzo Weber explained the reasons for this situation in an interview with MDR. In his view, the German economy has lost its ability to renew itself, while traditional companies are under strong pressure. He cited the situation with internal combustion engines as a striking example.

(The German economy has lost its ability to renew itself. Traditional companies are under strong pressure — a striking example is the situation with internal combustion engines. At the same time, it is necessary to use the opportunities that are opening up. They exist in the fields of hydrogen technologies, energy storage systems, electric transport, and the combination of robotics with artificial intelligence. New jobs could be created in these areas, but in practice this is hardly happening. Companies are not ready to invest in Germany), the expert noted.
