Thousands of young people in Germany have taken to the streets to protest against Merz's government. Representatives of the youth movement "Gen Z regelt" organised a series of demonstrations against the policies of the current federal government led by Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
Main action held in the capital
The largest action took place in Berlin. Approximately 5,000 people gathered near the Brandenburg Gate. Some participants arrived in Halloween costumes, while others brought East German flags, communist symbols, and placards demanding the chancellor's resignation.
Protests spread to other cities
Activity was also recorded in the regions. According to the Bild publication, approximately 3,000 people took to the streets in Stuttgart. Around 1,900 people participated in the protest in Erfurt, and 230 in Rostock.
In Hanover, demonstrators gathered near the central station, where they chanted the slogan "Merz must go!". Participants in the action claim that the federal government is ignoring the interests of the younger generation.
Key demands of protesters
Protesters are demanding a reduction in the cost of living, increased funding for education, strengthened climate protection measures, as well as the abandonment of the introduction of mandatory military service and an increase in military spending.
