Separate approach to violations from the Schengen side

The Lithuanian government plans to develop a specialised algorithm of action for cases where unmanned aerial vehicles enter the country's territory from the side of Schengen zone member states. This was stated by Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius.

The head of government emphasised that the strategy for responding to such incidents differs from the protocols applied to drones flying in from Belarus. In his words, different rules apply to countries hostile to us, while the Schengen space requires separate logic.

Consultations on new protocols

Mindaugas Sinkevičius underlined the need to begin consultations to determine a specific algorithm of action in situations where a drone appears in Lithuanian airspace from the territory of the Schengen zone.

«Алгоритм дій щодо країн, ворожих до нас, дещо інший. Щодо Шенгенської зони, звісно, у нас діє інший алгоритм. Тому… ми розпочнемо певні консультації щодо можливого алгоритму дій навіть у тих випадках, коли дрон або безпілотний літальний апарат потрапляє до нас із Шенгенської зони» (The algorithm of action regarding countries hostile to us is somewhat different. Regarding the Schengen zone, of course, we have a different algorithm in force. Therefore... we will begin certain consultations on a possible algorithm of action even in cases where a drone or unmanned aerial vehicle enters our territory from the Schengen zone), the Prime Minister noted.
