MP calls for a review of approaches to conscription protection

People's Deputy Inna Sovsun expressed outrage over the proliferation of job vacancies offering employment with conscription exemptions for staff in the service sector and retail trade. According to her, this practice covers personnel at barbershops, restaurants, shops, as well as workers at private residences.

Criticism of social inequality

The politician drew attention to a stark disparity: while Ukraine's defenders have been risking their lives on the front line for the fifth year, representatives of civilian professions are receiving guarantees of protection from mobilisation. Sovsun emphasised that among those receiving exemptions are barbers, sommeliers, gardeners, petrol station operators, and Armani salespeople.

Link between state security and the economy

«Не буде українського війська — не буде ні українського бізнесу, ні української енергетики, ні української медицини, ні українських барбершопів» ("There will be no Ukrainian army — there will be no Ukrainian business, no Ukrainian energy sector, no Ukrainian healthcare, and no Ukrainian barbershops"), the MP stressed.

Her position is based on the thesis that the stability of any economic sector is impossible without an effective army that defends the country.
