Fire Point reports strike on Lukoil refinery in Kostovo and major fire

Official confirmation of industrial facility strike

Ukrainian defence company Fire Point released an official statement confirming the successful strike on the industrial facility "Lukoil-Nizhnefteorgsintez". The target facility is located in the city of Kostovo in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. According to the company, the incident occurred in the night leading up to 1 November.

Consequences of mass drone attack

According to information from the Ukrainian side and eyewitness accounts, the mass attack by unmanned aerial vehicles resulted in a series of powerful explosions on the enterprise's territory. The strike hit key processing units.

As a result, large-scale fires and thick clouds of black smoke formed at the facility. At least five separate fire spots have been recorded.

Local authorities' reaction

Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Governor Hlib Nikitin confirmed the fact of damage to industrial infrastructure in the Kostovo district. He added that emergency services are already working at the scene, dealing with the aftermath and extinguishing the fire.
