Financial Times: 65 active conflicts bring world closer to World War III

The global security architecture is at a critical juncture. According to estimates by the Financial Times, the planet is on the verge of a full-scale World War III. The main cause is the unprecedented increase in the number of armed confrontations against the backdrop of the systemic weakening of the international order.

Record number of wars since World War II

Statistics show that 65 armed conflicts are currently ongoing in various regions of the planet. This is the highest figure since World War II.

Defence experts emphasise that the combination of the large-scale war in Ukraine, the escalation of tensions between the United States and Iran, and the intensification of the situation around Taiwan creates a real risk of local issues escalating into a global clash.

New geopolitical blocs and the division of spheres of influence

The situation is exacerbated by the formation of a new configuration of forces. Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea are demonstrating a trend towards deepening cooperation and creating an alternative bloc.

At the same time, Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, and Donald Trump are intensifying efforts to divide the world into separate spheres of influence. This approach leads to the destruction of the familiar system of international security.

Risk of aggression due to the uncertainty of the US position

A separate source of concern is the doubt regarding Washington's readiness to defend its allies. Analysts believe that such an attitude could serve as a signal to aggressors to take new steps.

According to experts' forecasts, this could push the Kremlin to attack one of the NATO member states, and Beijing to seize Taiwan by force.

Experts associate the greatest threat with the scenario in which key adversaries become convinced of the absence of military intervention by the United States. It is precisely this conviction that could become the trigger for the emergence of a global conflict.
