Extradition from Scandinavia
Ukrainian law enforcement officials have completed the extradition procedure for a suspect in a fraud case from Norway. The individual is a former head of a bank branch, suspected of illegally appropriating client funds. The total amount of damages caused is 1,117,000 hryvnias.
Scheme of fund misappropriation
According to investigation materials, the offender abused the trust of clients and his official position. Having gained access to citizens' bank cards, he took out credit products through online services without their knowledge or consent. The suspect withdrew the funds issued by the bank in cash. Meanwhile, the financial obligations to repay the loans remained with the clients whose personal data was used to obtain the credits.
Victims from vulnerable groups
Law enforcement officials established that 15 individuals became victims of the fraudulent actions. The majority of them are representatives of socially vulnerable categories of the population. In total, the damages caused to this group of people amounted to over 1.1 million UAH.
Investigation progress and punishment
In September 2025, investigators formally charged the suspect with committing a crime in absentia. At that time, the man was hiding from law enforcement agencies abroad, so he was placed on international wanted lists. As a result of cooperation with Interpol, his location in Norway was established. There, the suspect was detained and his transfer to Ukraine was organised.
The defendant is currently in custody. If his guilt is proven in court, he faces a punishment of up to eight years of imprisonment. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the final decision in the case will be made by the court.
