Head of the OP's position on the NABU investigation
Kyrylo Budanov, who heads the Office of the President, publicly commented on the investigation known as 'Carthage'. Within the framework of this case, representatives of senior positions in the Security Service of Ukraine and the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been formally charged.
In his comment, Budanov emphasised the principle of equality before the law, noting that the position held, military or service rank, as well as the scope of authority, cannot serve as grounds for avoiding liability for committed acts.
The law is the same for everyone
«Закон один для всіх. Посади, звання та повноваження не можуть бути підставою для уникнення відповідальності. Корупція та будь-які злочини мають отримувати належну правову оцінку, а винні — нести відповідальність. Ситуація потребує своєчасних рішучих дій. Очікуємо на об’єктивне, незалежне розслідування та справедливі рішення» ("The law is the same for everyone. Positions, ranks and authorities cannot be grounds for avoiding liability. Corruption and any crimes must receive proper legal assessment, and the guilty must bear responsibility. The situation requires timely decisive action. We expect an objective, independent investigation and fair decisions"), — wrote Budanov.
President's reaction
Meanwhile, head of state Volodymyr Zelensky has not yet provided public comments regarding this situation. It is known that on the eve of and on the day of Budanov's statement publication, the President was abroad, carrying out visits to several European countries.
