Bakhmatov: Kyiv City Council approves his idea for public toilets across the capital

Troeshchyna initiative to become city-wide programme

Bakhmatov, Head of the Desnianska District State Administration, who last year proposed digging public toilets in Troeshchyna during power outages, announced a change in the status of his idea. According to him, the Kyiv City Council has approved this initiative for implementation across the entire city of Kyiv.

“It seems the whole of Kyiv will now be digging public toilets,” the official stated.

Criticism of infrastructure readiness for crisis situations

Commenting on the necessity of such measures, Bakhmatov emphasised that the capital’s authorities had not prepared backup systems for water supply, electricity, and heating. He also drew attention to financial aspects: according to him, the UAH 37 billion allocated this year, as well as the UAH 500 billion directed previously, “disappeared somewhere, they were simply spread thin”.
