Previously, Mitrokhin published appeals to law enforcement agencies reporting alleged blackmail. However, the investigation established that his activities were of an opposite nature: corruption mechanisms were implemented at his enterprises, allowing for the illegal extraction of state funds.
Despite the exposure of these facts, the businessman did not change his behaviour. He ignored the existing evidence of abuses and did not publicly condemn these actions. His explanations about ignorance and the claim that he allegedly did not notice the processes occurring at the enterprises under his control are not taken into account, as these structures were the instrument of the corruption schemes.
