Phased restoration of traffic

From 30 October, the gradual restoration of vehicular traffic on the Southern Bridge in Kyiv has begun. At this stage, passage is permitted only in the direction from the left to the right bank of the capital. The initial phase involves opening one lane for vehicles weighing up to 10 tonnes, which includes, among others, passenger cars.

As reported by the Kyiv City State Administration, this decision was made based on the results of a technical inspection of the structure and expert opinions provided by the National Institute of Infrastructure Development.

Restrictions and ongoing works

Traffic in the opposite direction — from the right to the left bank — remains prohibited for now. Technical works are ongoing on this section of the bridge. Further notice will be given regarding the possible opening of passage in this direction.

«У напрямку з правого на лівий берег рух поки залишається закритим. На цій ділянці тривають технічні роботи. Про відновлення руху повідомимо додатково» (Traffic in the direction from the right to the left bank remains closed for now. Technical works are ongoing on this section. We will provide further information on the restoration of traffic), the official statement reads.

In parallel with the restoration of traffic, specialists from the relevant municipal enterprises, together with scientists, are developing technical solutions for repairing damaged structural elements. Particular attention is being paid to the nodes that ensure the operation of the metro.

Warning for drivers

The Kyiv City State Administration urges drivers to take existing temporary restrictions into account when planning their routes around the city.

We remind you that in October 2026, Russian forces attacked the Southern Bridge several times. The most serious damage to the infrastructure was caused by a ballistic strike on the night before October 27.
