Traffic restrictions following enemy strike

Due to the consequences of Russia's massive overnight attack on the capital, restrictions have been imposed on road traffic in Kyiv. Specifically, movement on the South Bridge is restricted in the direction from the right bank to the left bank.

This was announced by the Kyiv City Military Administration (KMVA) and the capital's metro system. The administration's statement noted: «У звʼязку з ворожою атакою на столицю обмежено рух транспорту Південним мостом у напрямку з правого на лівий берег» (Due to the enemy attack on the capital, traffic on the South Bridge is restricted in the direction from the right bank to the left bank).

Drivers are urged to take these changes into account when planning their routes and, where possible, choose alternative ways of travel.

Changes in metro operations

Due to damage to infrastructure, including metro facilities located on the South Bridge, the operation of the Syretska-Pecherska ("green") line has been temporarily altered. Currently, trains are operating only on two isolated sections:

  • between Syrets and Vidubychi stations;
  • between Osokorky and Chervony Khutir stations.

Service is being maintained using rolling stock that remained in the tunnels overnight. Intervals between trains may be increased. Work to inspect damage and restore infrastructure will continue after the air raid alert ends.

Consequences of the overnight shelling

As previously reported, the attack that took place in the night of 22 October resulted in 15 people being injured, including two teenagers aged 15. Eight of the injured were hospitalised in city hospitals.

In addition, according to preliminary reports, the strike damaged metro infrastructure on the South Bridge, the building of an emergency medical aid station, and six emergency medical vehicles.
