Audio recording reveals events on the day of the actress's death

Media outlet CBS News obtained and released a recording of a call to the 911 emergency service made on 16 August. This material details the course of events on the day when actress and ex-fiancée of Volodymyr Klitschko, Hayden Panettiere, was found unconscious. The recording captures the process of providing first aid, which continued until medical personnel arrived.

Zack Hickerson found the actress unconscious

According to the published audio, the call was made by Zack Hickerson — the brother of Brian Hickerson, with whom Panettiere had a relationship characterised as unstable. He was the one who found the actress unconscious in her apartment in the city of Greenville. The man told the dispatcher that he had returned to the residence after attending church, and that Brian was also present at the scene.

«Він прокинувся, а його дівчина… Вона непритомна… Вона не дихає» (He woke up, and his girlfriend… She is unconscious… She is not breathing), Zack Hickerson stated, addressing the rescue service.

Dispatcher instructed the witness on resuscitation

During the conversation, Zack Hickerson asked: «О Боже, о Боже… Чи треба робити серцево-легеневу реанімацію, чи щось таке?» (Oh God, oh God… Do I need to do CPR, or something like that?). The dispatcher initially asked him to find a defibrillator, but the witness was unable to do so. After clarifying the patient's condition, to which Zack replied: «Ні, здається, ні» (No, I don't think so), the dispatcher began to instruct him in detail on the technique for performing CPR.

The specialist advised counting the number of chest compressions. Zack Hickerson performed these measures until the emergency medical service arrived at the scene, which then took over the process of providing aid.
