New NABU audio recordings: plans to influence power
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine has released a new batch of materials recording dialogues between two key figures in criminal structures. In the recording, “Crime” and “Mexican” discuss in detail the strategy for bribing senior state officials. According to the speakers, the purpose of these arrangements is to organise the sale of narcotic substances through the U420 store network.
Specific officials are mentioned in the conversations. In particular, they discuss the need to reach an agreement with the Minister of Internal Affairs, referred to in the dialogue as “Comrade K.” (apparently referring to Interior Minister Klimenko — Ed.), as well as with the head of the “Servant of the People” faction, identified as “Arakh.” (presumably David Arakhamia — Ed.). The suspects separately discuss the importance of reaching a consensus with the Minister of Health, identified as “L.” (likely Viktor Lyashko — Ed.).
Who is mentioned in the recording and their roles
It is important to note that the released materials do not contain the direct voices of the officials themselves. Only conversations between two criminal leaders are recorded: Yehor Burkin, a known drug lord and founder of the “Khimprom” cartel, nicknamed “Mexican” in criminal circles, and Andriy Osypov, nicknamed “Crime”. Osypov, who is close to the Security Service of Ukraine, was responsible for establishing contacts with law enforcement agencies.
Financial indicators of the scheme and future plans
According to the suspects' claims, at the time of the recording, the scheme for selling so-called “legal drugs” generates significant profit. The product recipe was regularly changed until it was banned. According to the criminals' estimates, daily revenue from this activity reaches three million hryvnia. At the same time, they personally retain about 700,000 hryvnia in net profit. The speakers also shared plans for the summer period, aiming to increase daily revenue to five million hryvnia.
Plans to pressure the media space
In addition to financial aspects and lobbying in the government, “Crime” and “Mexican” discussed methods of influencing the information space. The dialogue mentions the possibility of pressuring journalists who covered the activities of the U420 network. A strategy for bribing other media outlets to “shift the focus” of attention was also discussed.
