Kallas calls for stronger support for Ukraine after attack on Dnipro railway station

Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, reacted to the Russian strike on the railway station in Dnipro. She emphasised the need to strengthen support for Ukraine and ensure accountability for those responsible.

Appeal to the international community

In a public post on the social media platform X, Kallas characterised the attack on the railway station as a new episode of brutal violence against the peaceful population of Ukraine.

«Смертоносна атака Росії на залізничний вокзал у Дніпрі – це ще один жорстокий напад на українських цивільних громадян. Це абсолютно чітко демонструє, що Москва не зацікавлена в мирі» (Russia’s deadly attack on the railway station in Dnipro is yet another brutal assault on Ukrainian civilians. This clearly demonstrates that Moscow is not interested in peace), she stated.

The European official also expressed condolences to the victims of the Russian strike and their families.

Plans for accountability

Kallas stated that during upcoming international meetings, including the EU-Canada summit and the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting, she would appeal to partners to strengthen support for Ukraine. She would also emphasise the need to facilitate the prosecution of those responsible.

To achieve these goals, according to the EU representative, instruments such as the Special Tribunal and the Compensation Commission should be used.

«Росію необхідно притягнути до відповідальності» (Russia must be held accountable), Kallas concluded.
