Changes to restriction regime in Donetsk region

Starting from 1 November, updated curfew rules will take effect across the entire territory of Donetsk region. The new regime provides for movement restrictions from 16:00 to 11:00 the following day. This decision applies to all districts of the region, with the exception of the Oleksandrivka and Cherkaska territorial communities, where existing restrictions remain unchanged.

Decision by regional leadership

The introduction of the new regime was announced by the head of the Donetsk Regional Military and Civil Administration, Vadym Filashkin. He signed the corresponding order on 19 October. In the Oleksandrivka and Cherkaska communities, the curfew continues to operate on the previous schedule — from 21:00 to 05:00.

Reasons for introducing strict restrictions

According to Vadym Filashkin, the change in regime is due to the escalation of the security situation. Russians are intensifying shelling of settlements in the region, which leads to a constant increase in risks for the civilian population.

«Прошу всіх поставитися до нових обмежень відповідально, планувати пересування заздалегідь і дотримуватися вимог військових адміністрацій та правоохоронців», — зазначив очільник ОВА. ("I ask everyone to treat the new restrictions responsibly, plan their movements in advance, and comply with the requirements of military administrations and law enforcement officers," noted the head of the OVA.)

The head of the region also emphasised that there are no zones in Donetsk region that can be considered completely safe.

«І вкотре наголошую: на Донеччині давно вже немає безпечних місць. Закликаю людей, особливо родини з дітьми, не чекати чергового обстрілу й виїжджати до більш безпечних регіонів України», — додав Вадим Філашкін. ("I emphasise once again: there have been no safe places in Donetsk region for a long time. I call on people, especially families with children, not to wait for the next shelling and to move to safer regions of Ukraine," added Vadym Filashkin.)
