Opening a direct communication channel

Boeing Corporation has officially received permission from the US Department of Commerce to resume business relations with Belarus' national air carrier, Belavia. This was announced by the company's CEO, Ihor Cherginets.

Access to maintenance and new aircraft

According to the head of Belavia, the decision creates the prerequisites for the direct acquisition of necessary resources. The airline will now be able to purchase spare parts, components, and software for its fleet of aircraft directly from the supplier.

In addition to technical service, the path has been opened for commercial negotiations on the purchase of new aircraft directly from the American manufacturer.

Preliminary steps and diplomatic context

The resumption of cooperation became possible thanks to a sequence of decisions by US authorities. Previously, the US Department of the Treasury issued a permit for the technical possibility of direct dialogue. Additionally, last year Washington lifted all political sanctions that had been in effect against the Belarusian air carrier.

Ihor Cherginets emphasised that these changes were the result of negotiations between the leadership of Belarus and a delegation from the United States.
