People's Deputy Viktor Bondar declares large cash sums

Ukrainian People's Deputy Viktor Bondar, who was detained as part of an investigation into corruption schemes at Ukrzaliznytsia, declared cash holdings of $674,000 and €195,000 in his asset declaration. This information became available following the publication of his latest declaration.

Bondar, who represents Khmelnytskyi Oblast, was one of 11 People's Deputies elected in 2019. He is also known as one of the authors of a bill that excluded liability for inaccurate declarations and introduced electronic filing.

According to the declaration, the deputy owns several land plots. Specifically, he has owned a 0.15-hectare plot in Hostomel since 2007, and a 0.25-hectare plot in the village of Dashkivtsi in Khmelnytskyi Oblast since 2009. In addition, Bondar owns a 611-square-metre residential house in Hostomel and a 77.7-square-metre apartment in Odesa. In 2018, his daughter became the owner of an apartment in Kyiv.

Regarding vehicles, Bondar officially does not own a car; however, he declared numerous items of movable property, including a collection of paintings and antiques. His collection comprises 75 paintings, 17 icons, and various jewellery items, such as Swiss watches and cufflinks. The antiques include 19th-century watches and three pairs of cufflinks, one of which is adorned with precious stones.

Bondar is also the ultimate beneficial owner of Budinforum LLC, holding a 50% stake in the company, which is equivalent to nearly 2.7 million hryvnia. However, according to declarations from previous years, he has no income from this company, as he transferred his share to management.

In addition to Bondar, investigators suspect several other individuals, including Kyiv businessman Volodymyr Kotliar and former First Deputy Head of the "Production Support Centre" branch of Ukrzaliznytsia, Oleksiy Onysymyuk. An SBU officer, Artem Shil, is also named in the case, with a total of eight suspects involved.
