Dnipro is gradually losing its bridges. Following the New Bridge, city authorities have promised to close another one. However, this time it concerns a pedestrian structure. Specifically, preparations are underway for the reconstruction of the pedestrian bridge in Hloba Park.

The structure is set to be closed in the near future. Authorities plan to carry out repair work on the bridge and other objects in its immediate vicinity by the end of the current year.

What work will be carried out

An agreement has already been concluded with the relevant construction organisation. The company intends to replace the road surface, update the railings, and renovate the bridge structures themselves. The use of ready-made slabs allows for significant savings in time and money. The structures are relatively easy to install on the section of road being reconstructed. They simply need to be positioned correctly and all joints treated.

If asphalt laying is planned, there is a likelihood that this bridge will also become a long-running construction project, just like the New Bridge. The latter was completely closed at least two to three times in just the past few years. As a result, residents of Dnipro experienced significant inconvenience, having to drive around half the city to reach its central part.

Billions of budget hryvnias were spent by the builders. Yet, just weeks after the bridge opened, potholes were again detected on the road surface. Another closure of the New Bridge is planned in the near future.

It is not ruled out that the pedestrian structure in Hloba Park will meet a similar fate.

In addition, the contractor is required to dismantle the metal railings and lighting poles, take down the retaining walls, bring the staircases into proper condition, remove old trees and stumps, and install modern LED fixtures.
