Shadow of the Forgotten Ancestors star refuses to perform in Ukrainian

A star of the film Shadow of the Forgotten Ancestors refused to perform in Ukrainian during the award ceremony of the National Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine named after Sergei Parajanov.

87-year-old People's Artist of Ukraine Larysa Kadochnikova stated that for her, using the language of the country in which she lives is sufficient within the framework of the theatrical stage. Outside of the theatre, the actress said, she prefers to speak Russian.

Writer Larysa Nitsi, who published a video of Kadochnikova's remarks, sharply criticised the artist's position. In her assessment, she called the famous actress a "Ukrainophobe".
