Widespread blackouts following infrastructure strikes

Zhytomyr Oblast was left without electricity after Russian forces struck energy and fuel sector facilities. Representatives of Zhytomyroblyenergo and the head of the regional military-civilian administration, Vitaliy Bunechko, reported on the situation.

Details of the combined attack

According to the head of the OVA, the enemy carried out a combined air attack that began last evening. The targets were energy and fuel infrastructure facilities located within the Zhytomyr and Zviahel territorial communities.

«Під час комбінованої атаки з повітря, яка розпочалася вчора ввечері, росіяни нанесли удари по об’єктах енергетичної та паливної інфраструктури у Житомирській та Звягельській громадах області», – зазначив Віталій Бунечко. Addressing the aftermath and safety measures

Repair crews and rescuers have been working continuously since the attack. Fires that broke out at the impact sites have already been contained and extinguished by State Emergency Service personnel. Energy workers are making every effort to restore power to the region as quickly as possible.

Officials are urging residents of the oblast to take preventive measures: it is necessary to unplug appliances that are sensitive to sharp voltage fluctuations. This will help prevent damage to household devices during the power restoration process.
