President assesses energy systems' status following Russian attacks

Head of State Volodymyr Zelensky held a video conference dedicated to eliminating the consequences of enemy strikes and the current situation with energy carrier supply. According to him, the situation in the capital remains the most critical.

“I held a video conference on the situation in the regions regarding the elimination of the consequences of Russian strikes and power supply. The worst situation is in Kyiv: people and companies are experiencing prolonged power and water outages, and the challenges are very serious,” the president emphasised.

Causes of problems in the capital

Zelensky explained that such difficulties resulted from a combination of two factors: enemy attacks on Ukraine's energy facilities and the failure to implement decisions at the city level regarding preparation for the heating season.

Reports from other regions and restoration measures

During the meeting, the president heard reports on the situation in Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa, as well as in Poltava, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Odesa, Zhytomyr, Sumy, and Kyiv regions.

Particular attention was paid to cooperation with the energy sector. “We separately discussed with representatives of energy companies - both state and private - the need to involve additional teams and accelerate restoration,” the head of state said.

In addition, Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi reported on the launch of a programme for monthly additional payments for all workers involved in restoration work. This initiative covers energy workers, municipal services staff, railway workers, as well as employees of water treatment and water supply facilities.

Zelensky also emphasised the importance of using army resources: “It is important that designated capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are being involved in the restoration of the power grid and energy facilities.”
