Duration of energy infrastructure restoration
Restoring damaged power lines in Ukraine may take up to three months. Energy expert Yuriy Korolchuk stated that such timelines make any destruction particularly critical for the stability of Ukraine's energy system.
Change in enemy tactics
According to the specialist, active attacks on the electrical grid by Russia began after its armed forces gained access to specialised warheads for unmanned aerial vehicles. These devices are specifically designed to target power lines.
The expert emphasised that the appearance of such means of destruction in the Russian arsenal has made the country's energy infrastructure significantly more vulnerable. The serious threat to the energy sector lies not only in the strikes themselves but also in the need to spend a huge amount of time eliminating their effects, as repairing a single line can take up to three months.
