Incident at military unit

An unexpected incident occurred at a military gendarmerie station located in the Polish town of Nowa Dębica. A postal shipment from Germany arrived at the commissariat premises. While unpacking it, two military personnel and one civilian employee experienced a deterioration in their well-being.

Timeline of events

According to the publication Rzeczpospolita, the package was received on Wednesday, 30 September, at 10:30. A postcard was found inside the envelope. Witnesses noted that no visible contents fell out of the envelope after it was opened.

Response of services and condition of victims

All three individuals who felt unwell were immediately hospitalised. They were discharged from the hospital after undergoing medical examinations. Currently, doctors have no grounds to believe that poisoning occurred.

Evacuation and investigation

Due to this incident, 133 people were evacuated from the building. Four other gendarmes who had contact with the suspicious package were isolated for safety, although no symptoms were observed in them. Specialised services operated at the scene, including taking samples for further laboratory analysis.
