Allegations regarding illegal origin of drugs

The 'Laserhaus' cosmetic chain in Kharkiv has come under scrutiny following reports of the possible use of illegally sourced Dysport botulinum toxin. According to sources, some preparations may bear labelling lacking mandatory information in Ukrainian.

Risks associated with storage conditions

Questions have arisen not only about the origin of the drugs but also about compliance with their storage and transportation conditions. It is known that Dysport requires storage at a temperature of +2 to +8 °C. Violation of the temperature regime may cast doubt on the efficacy and safety of the drug. If the origin of the substance and its transportation conditions are unknown, assessing the risks to patients becomes more difficult.

Queries to state authorities

The author of the publication also raised the issue of controlling the circulation of botulinum toxins in Ukraine and the possible illegal import of such drugs. Separately, he addressed the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, headed by Viktor Lyashko, and law enforcement agencies, asking whether they had verified information about the possible illegal circulation of botulinum toxins and whether there are grounds for inspecting the mentioned clinics.

Investigation status

Currently, the allegations require proper verification. The position of the 'Laserhaus' chain and the results of official inspections are not provided in this weekend publication.
