Energy market records price surge

Natural gas futures on European exchanges have crossed the $1,050 mark per thousand cubic metres. According to data published by the Anadolu agency, this level of resource value was last observed in December 2022.

Causes of the price increase

According to the publication, the rise in gas prices is linked to heightened concerns regarding supply. The main risk factors are cited as:

  • disruptions in the functioning of the Strait of Hormuz;
  • lower-than-usual gas storage levels ahead of the winter season.

These circumstances deepen concerns about Europe's ability to secure its gas supply during a period when seasonal demand for energy traditionally rises.
