Performance did not take place a day before the scheduled date

The concert of Russian comedian Maxim Galkin was cancelled in Istanbul. The event was scheduled to take place on 25 October, but it was cancelled a day before the start. The reason was protest actions launched by Turkish activists. They demanded the show be banned, citing the artist's earlier statements regarding the war in the Gaza Strip.

Galkin explained the reason for the cancellation

Maxim Galkin announced that the performance would not take place in his Instagram account. According to him, holding the concert on the scheduled date became legally impossible. The artist apologised to the audience who had already purchased tickets.

Decision made by state authorities

The showman emphasised that the initiative for the cancellation came from Turkish state authorities. He noted that neither he nor the event organisers had the ability to influence this situation. In other words, the concert was not withdrawn at the artist's or organisers' wish, but as a result of decisions by the Turkish authorities. Meanwhile, Galkin's statement does not disclose which specific departments imposed the ban or on what specific legal grounds.
