Criticism of the Polish President's position

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski publicly expressed disagreement with President Karol Nawrocki's views on the nature of the Russian threat. In a post on the social media platform X, the head of the foreign affairs department questioned the validity of such claims.

“It is interesting who is telling Karol Nawrocki that the Russian threat is a lie,” Sikorski noted. This reaction was linked to an article in the Onet publication, which mentioned warnings from UK Defence Secretary Wes Streeting.

Context of the security debate

Earlier, Karol Nawrocki stated that he did not see a sharp change in the Russian threat. He also accused Prime Minister Donald Tusk of “stoking fear”.

Meanwhile, UK Defence Secretary Wes Streeting warned that the United Kingdom must be ready for a possible armed conflict within less than three years. It was this warning from the government official that prompted Sikorski's comment.
