Detection of new production infrastructure

Experts from the US Foreign Policy Research Institute (FPRI) have concluded that Saudi Arabia is intensifying ballistic missile production. This forecast is based on an analysis of satellite images taken between April 2025 and September 2026.

At the missile plant in Ed-Dawadmi, located approximately 200 km from Riyadh, the construction of a new production building is being recorded. Its area is at least twice as large as the existing facilities. According to analysts' estimates, the launch of new production could take place by the end of the current year.

Technological aspects and weapon capabilities

The expansion of production lines is likely aimed at manufacturing missiles with solid-fuel engines, which differ in greater flight range or warhead mass. Experts assume that Chinese technologies are being used for this. The plant may be transitioning from producing DF-15 type missiles to more powerful DF-21 systems.

The creation of such systems could strengthen Saudi Arabia's defensive capabilities. New missiles could help deter Iran and the Yemeni Houthis supported by Tehran.

Political consequences for the US

Changes in Saudi Arabia's missile programme may have an impact on the domestic political situation in the US. The expansion of ballistic missile production could strengthen opposition in Congress regarding the current agreement, which provides assistance to Riyadh in uranium enrichment.
