Russia's Omsk came under a drone attack on the evening of 24 October. According to monitoring services, an industrial zone housing a key chemical facility in the region came under fire.
Major petrochemical complex targeted
The target of the strike may have been the Omsk Rubber plant. It is one of the largest enterprises in Russia's petrochemical sector. The production facility specialises in the manufacture of synthetic rubber and other chemical components.
The plant's products are used in the production of fuel, car tyres and industrial goods. After drones approached the facility, a large-scale fire broke out on its premises.
Official comments and distance from the border
Omsk Oblast Governor Vitaly Khotsenko stated that Russian air defence systems were actively repelling the attack. According to him, the drones reached Omsk's northern industrial hub, where major production capacities are concentrated.
However, the official did not specify which particular facility was targeted. The distance from the Ukrainian border to Omsk is over 2,500 kilometres.
