Court proceedings commence

The Bila Tserkva District Prosecutor's Office has completed the pre-trial investigation into a criminal case involving a 25-year-old resident of the Bila Tserkva district. The man has been notified of suspicion of committing crimes under Part 3 of Article 332 and Part 3 of Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The bill of indictment has already been submitted to the court for a trial on the merits.

Mechanics of the fraudulent scheme

According to the investigation, the suspect offered services to men of conscription age to cross the state border. For a fee of 2,000 US dollars, he promised one of his "clients" to provide permit documents that formally allowed him to leave Ukraine with volunteer status. It was also mentioned that the relevant data would be entered into the "Shliakh" system.

Detention and flight abroad

In October 2022, law enforcement officers detained the man red-handed while he was receiving money for the services provided. The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention in custody with the right to post bail. However, after being released on bail, the suspect left Ukraine and evaded the pre-trial investigation authorities for a long period. As a result, he was declared a fugitive.

Location identified and punishment

During operational search measures conducted with the participation of officers from the Security Service of Ukraine, the man's actual location was established. Currently, the bill of indictment has been sent to the court. If found guilty, he faces a punishment of up to nine years of imprisonment.

Other cases in the region

Previously, the investigation was completed in Chernivtsi Oblast regarding a 44-year-old resident of Dnistrovskyi district. He is suspected of organising the illegal smuggling of a military-obliged person across the state border. According to the investigation, the man received 10,000 US dollars for assistance in such a departure.
