Plans for US media presence

First Lady of the United States Melania Trump officially announced the intention to send a group of journalists from the American television channel Newsmax to the city of Oleshky, which is under temporary occupation in Kherson region. The main purpose of their visit will be independent coverage of the humanitarian mission.

Role of neutral observers

According to Melania Trump's statement, representatives of American media will perform the function of neutral observers. Their task will be to independently record and document the course of events during this, in her words, historic humanitarian mission.

«Чотири американські журналісти телеканалу Newsmax працюватимуть в Олешках разом з російськими та українськими лідерами гуманітарних організацій. Виступаючи як нейтральні спостерігачі, вони незалежно фіксуватимуть і документуватимуть цю історичну гуманітарну місію» (Four American journalists from the Newsmax channel will work in Oleshky together with Russian and Ukrainian leaders of humanitarian organisations. Acting as neutral observers, they will independently record and document this historic humanitarian mission), the US First Lady's publication emphasises.

Coordination with both sides

Melania Trump emphasised that Newsmax journalists will work with both Ukrainian and Russian heads of humanitarian organisations.

Prior announcement

It is worth noting that similar information regarding the participation of Newsmax journalists in covering the events was previously voiced by Kyrylo Dmytriev, who is the special representative of Russian dictator Putin.
